Summary of activities
She studies the cellular and molecular mechanisms associated with the perinatal origin of cardiometabolic diseases in adulthood. She has experience in the area of Nutrition and Physical Exercise, with an emphasis on Nutrition, Physical Activity during pregnancy and in the growth and development phases. Her research area includes the standardization of experimental protocols for moderate physical training and voluntary physical activity during pregnancy. She also works in the area of Nutrition and Physical Activity evaluating the short and long-term response of perinatal malnutrition and the reprogramming effect of physical training and/or voluntary physical activity. She coordinates the Growing Up Healthy project in Vitória de Santo Antão – PE where she develops research on the growth and development, nutritional status, neuro-motor development and physical fitness of children with low birth weight in the Zona da Mata of the state of Pernambuco.
She works mainly on the following topics: nutrition, physical activity, physical training, skeletal muscle metabolism and phenotypic plasticity.
