On World Hepatitis Day 2026, we are proud to join the global awareness campaign led by the The World Hepatitis Alliance.
In this special video, two researchers from our Hepatology Institute share their expertise and commitment to advancing liver research and improving patient care.

🎙️ Dr Charlotte Scholtes (Laboratoire CarMeN INRAE UMR1397-INSERM U1060), presents her work on Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH). Her research explores the cellular and metabolic mechanisms driving liver disease, with the aim of identifying new therapeutic targets for this rapidly growing global health challenge.

🎙️ Dr Guillaume Giraud highlights his research on hepatitis B virus (HBV), with a particular focus on the viral cccDNA, a persistent viral reservoir that represents one of the main barriers to curing chronic hepatitis B. His work contributes to the development of innovative therapeutic strategies aimed at achieving a functional cure.

Together, their research reflects the IHU’s multidisciplinary approach, addressing both viral and metabolic liver diseases to accelerate the translation of scientific discoveries into better treatments for patients.
